There are four types of dialysis access: Tunneled central venous catheter (CVC), arteriovenous fistula (AV Fistula), arteriovenous graft (AV Graft), and peritoneal dialysis catheter (PD Catheter). Which access is best for you depends on many factors.

Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease

Peripheral arterial disease affects blood vessels called arteries which carry blood from your heart to other parts of your body including your upper and lower extremities.

Renovascular Hypertension

Renovascular hypertension is caused by atherosclerosis within the renal arteries which can reduce blood flow. When there is inadequate blood supply through the renal arteries, the kidneys compensate by raising the body’s blood pressure.

Venous Insufficiency - Varicose Veins

Venous insufficiency occurs when valves in leg veins stop working properly. Veins then have trouble sending blood from the legs back to the heart. This improper valve function causes backflow and pooling of blood into vein branches and can lead to an array of clinical signs and symptoms, such as swelling, pain, itching and varicose veins.

Venous Thrombosis

DVT and SVT occur when a blood clot forms in one of the veins of the body. The diagnosis and management is an important part of what we do.
